Holly and Euan – Deer Park Country House Wedding – Honiton, Devon

Winter weddings hold a special place in my heart, especially when they take place at a stunning venue like Deer Park Country House in Honiton, Devon.

Capturing the love between Holly and Euan on their big day was a beautiful way to end the 2023 wedding season. I started off the day with Holly and her bridesmaids as they got ready in the playhouse, surrounded by the excitement of hair and makeup artists.

One of the great things about Deer Park is that both the bride and groom can prepare for the day on-site. I also had the opportunity to spend time with Euan and his groomsmen at The Shed, enjoying the breathtaking views of the Devon countryside.

Despite a few showers, we were able to venture outside to capture some group family photos and intimate moments between Holly and Euan in the stunning gardens.

The day was filled with laughter, tears, and heartfelt speeches, all leading up to a night of dancing and a magical sparkler send-off. I hope you enjoy these moments that I was able to capture on Holly and Euan’s special day.

Claire and Dean – Somerset Farm Wedding

There are two things certain when it comes to a farmer wedding, great food and a great party! Claire and Dean didn’t disappoint on either

From the beautiful setting at the Somerset family farmhouse to the delicious food and fantastic party, it was a day full of love and laughter. It was so heartwarming to see all their friends and family come together to celebrate their special day – even if they couldn’t all fit in the church!

The photos we captured in the cornfield are some of my favourites – so timeless and intimate. And as the sun set on the day, it was magical to witness Claire and Dean’s first dance as husband and wife. I feel so fortunate to have been a part of such a special celebration full of genuine moments and happy memories. Here’s to many more weddings like this one!

Lucy and Ben – Deer’s Leap, Devon Wedding

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at the gorgeous Deers Leap Retreat in Devon. Lucy and Ben had to navigate through changing their wedding date due to the pandemic, but when the day finally arrived, it was pure magic.

The lakeside ceremony was simply breath-taking, with the beautiful Devon countryside serving as the perfect backdrop. The love and joy in the air was evident as friends and family gathered to celebrate this special day. From welcome drinks to heartfelt speeches, and delicious food, every moment felt filled with love. Deer’s Leap was the perfect venue for this family to get together and celebrate.

As the day turned into night, the party atmosphere was infectious and I couldn’t help but capture every moment. It was a true pleasure to be a part of such a family-friendly celebration. I hope you enjoy looking through some of my favourite shots from the day. It was truly a day to remember and totally worth the wait!

Clare and Joseph – Dartmouth and Blackpool Sands Wedding

I recently had the pleasure of capturing Clare and Joe’s special day in Devon, and let me tell you, it was an absolute dream! From the intimate ceremony in Dartmouth to the beachside reception at Blackpool Sands, every moment was just perfect. The blue sky provided a stunning backdrop for some truly beautiful photos, capturing all the love and joy shared with their closest family and friends.

One thing I love about photographing weddings is being able to capture those timeless, natural moments that unfold throughout the day. From the laughter during the speeches to the stolen glances between the couple, it’s these candid moments that really make the day so special. Clare and Joe’s wedding was exactly that – a beautiful, intimate celebration of love and unity.

I feel so grateful to have been a part of their special day and to have been able to capture these precious memories for them. Here’s to many more weddings filled with love, happiness, and unforgettable moments!

2020 – My ‘Up’ Moments

I remember New Year’s Eve 2019 thinking, this is it, 2020 will be ‘the year’!

My busiest year to date, little did we know what was just around the corner! A year of ups and downs, unknowns and life definitely changed.

I was lucky enough to capture a small number of ‘small’ weddings, and small most definitely does not mean boring. It’s been a pleasure to be a part of those days where we realise what a wedding is all about – love and marrying the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Here’s a few of my ‘ups’ from 2020, a mix of weddings, family shoots and of course my family. I hope you enjoy them and here’s to a happy and healthy – and busier please – 2021!

Sarah and Simon – Wembury, Devon

I first met Sarah and Simon at Sarah’s brother’s wedding the previous year where I was the photographer.

I was delighted when she got in touch asking if I would also photograph her wedding.

It sounded like a picture perfect day, a church overlooking the coast and a relaxed barn reception with their closest friends and family, and it definitely didn’t disappoint!

After some gorgeous couple shots with the stunning coastline in the background, we headed onto the Barn at Baron’s Hill where their guests were treated to drinks and amazing food!

These two did not stop smiling all day and it’s clear to see they were made for each other! Congratulations again Mr and Mrs Wynne!

Vanessa and Alison – Deer Park Country House, Honiton

Bank holidays in this country usually mean rain, cold and are generally not very nice.

When we were forecast blue skies, sun and 20+ degrees it seemed too good to be true.

Vanessa and Alison chose Deer Park Country House near Honiton for their Easter weekend wedding celebrations and what a stunner it was!

With friends and family coming as far as China in some cases, they were definitely treated to the best of the weather we (sometimes) get here in Devon! The beautiful outside ceremony was followed by a traditional Chinese tea ceremony where Vanessa and Alison were treated to gifts and wise words of advice from their elders.

We managed to catch some gorgeous evening sun in the walled garden which finished off my time with the newly married couple with just time for some awesome party shots as the sun set.

A massive thank you to Deer Park for the warm welcome and gorgeous food, Natalie Nicols for the amazing hair, Steph for second shooting on the day and Abidemaids for the stunning bridesmaids dresses.

Kris and Cat – Kingston Estate, Devon

This was my first visit to Kingston Estate to shoot a wedding, and I cannot wait to return!

Kris and Cat were lucky enough to be able to get married at Buckfast Abbey. And what a stunning backdrop it made! This had to be the grandest place I’ve had the honour to shoot.

On our arrival back to Kingston, the sun made it’s appearance where it stayed until sunset.

What better way to end this gorgeous wedding with sparklers and a first dance under the stars which really kicked the party off.

Briana and Michael – Hayne, Devon

I was so excited to shoot at Hayne when Briana and Michael first booked me!

Set in what feels like the middle of no-where it is perfect for a weekend of celebrations. With the whole day set at Hayne, it was a brilliant, laid back affair. The light and airy barn is the perfect setting for the ceremony overlooking the gardens.

Briana and Michael’s day was very much focused on pretty hand-made details and friends and family. After a good fill of Paella courtesy of Hermanos Paella, I loved hearing all the stories at the speeches, which were delivered beautifully by all!

After some entertainment from Briana’s dad on the harmonica, Tim from Hayne and his band kicked off the evening’s celebrations.

We topped off their day with some sparklers and smoke bombs and crazy dancing!

It was a pleasure to photograph your day Mr and Mrs Dei!

Harris Family Shoot – Bridport, Dorset

Family shoots definitely don’t have to be boring. In fact, the more you run around like lunatics the better!

The Harris family definitely proved this on their recent shoot in Bridport. With an amazing play area with a rope swing over the river and a fire pit to keep warm, it kept the kids entertained while I captured the action.
